Stovetop Mac and Cheese 🧀

Ingredients:—-

– 2 cups elbow macaroni (8 ounces)

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

– 2 cups half and half (do not use milk or heavy cream)

– ½ teaspoon garlic powder

– ½ teaspoon onion powder

– ½ teaspoon mustard powder (optional)

– ½ teaspoon Kosher salt (or to taste)

– ¼ teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

– 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (Gouda or gruyere works perfectly too!)

Instructions:—-

1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add the elbow noodles, and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. Melt butter in a dutch oven over medium heat. Add flour and stir continuously for about 2 minutes.

3. Gradually whisk in half and half, cook until thickened.

4. Add garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

5. Turn off heat, add cheddar cheese and stir until melted and smooth.

6. Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until coated. Serve and enjoy!
