These Amish Onion Patties are a fantastic choice, whether as a flavorful appetizer or a tasty side dish. They pair wonderfully with ketchup or ranch dressing for an extra burst of flavor.

📜Ingredients :

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons white granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons cornmeal (self-rising or regular)
2 1/2 cups chopped onions (about 1 1/2 large white onions)
1 cup milk
1/2 cup cooking oil (Canola recommended)

🍵Directions :

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cornmeal.
Mix in the chopped onions.
Pour in milk and stir well until combined.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil.
Cook each patty on one side until golden brown, then flip to cook the other side. Each patty should be about 1/4 cup of batter.
If necessary, add more oil to the skillet while frying. The recipe makes about 10 to 12 onion patties.
