Italian Sausage Pizza Rolls 🍕

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 (10-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:

  1. Cook the sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Sauté the vegetables: Add the onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Make the sauce: Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12×18 inches.
  5. Spread the sauce: Spread the sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle the cheese: Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the sauce.
  7. Roll up the dough: Starting from one of the long sides, roll up the dough tightly.
  8. Cut the rolls: Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Bake the rolls: Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 400°F for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Serve: Serve the pizza rolls warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
