Pioneer Woman’s Apple Dumplings

Pioneer Woman’s Apple Dumplings

Ingredients :

2 granny smith apples
2 (8 ounce) cans crescent rolls
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
1 1⁄2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cinnamon, to taste (you will sprinkle over the top)
1 small (8 oz.) can of Mountain Dew soda (or 2/3 of a 12 ounce can)

Instructions :

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Grease a 9×13 baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Peel and core apples.

Cut apples into 8 slices each.

Open the crescent rolls and separate each triangle.

Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll beginning at the wide end.

Place the rolls in the prepared baking dish. They will be touching.

In a medium microwave safe bowl, or a saucepan, melt the butter, then add the sugar and barely stir.

Add vanilla to the butter mixture and stir.

Pour the butter mixture over apple rolls in baking dish.

Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan and a little down the center.

Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake in preheated oven for 30-40 minutes – you want the top to be a nice golden brown and crispy.

Don’t be alarmed about the liquid in the pan. It is supposed to be there!

Serve with ice cream and spoon a bit of the sauce from the pan over the top.

Enjoy with no regret!
