Vegan Hot Chocolate Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups plant-based milk (almond, soy, oat, or coconut milk work well)
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons maple syrup or sweetener of choice (adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
**Pinch of salt
Optional toppings: Dairy-free whipped cream, vegan marshmallows, a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa nibs
Instructions:
Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a small saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder and salt. This helps prevent lumps.
Add Liquid Ingredients:
Gradually pour in a small amount of the plant-based milk, whisking continuously to form a smooth paste.
Once smooth, add the remaining milk and maple syrup, stirring well.
Heat the Mixture:
Place the saucepan over medium heat.
Warm the mixture, stirring occasionally, until it’s hot but not boiling. Avoid letting it come to a full boil to prevent scorching.
Add Vanilla:
Remove the saucepan from the heat.
Stir in the vanilla extract for added flavor.
