Onion and Cumin Beef Stir-fry
Ingredients:
1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
1 large onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Marinate the beef:
In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1/2 tsp ground cumin. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Heat the oil:
In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over high heat.
Cook the beef:
Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry until browned on all sides. Remove the beef and set it aside.
Sauté aromatics:
In the same skillet, add the garlic, ginger, and cumin seeds. Cook for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
Add the onion:
Add the sliced onion to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until softened.
Return beef to skillet:
Add the cooked beef back to the skillet and mix well with the onions.
Season the stir-fry:
Stir in the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes to combine the flavors.
Garnish and serve:
Garnish with fresh cilantro, if desired, and serve hot with rice.
Enjoy 😉
