Garlic Beef Fried Rice
Ingredients:
For the Beef:
1/2 lb (225g) beef sirloin or steak, cubed
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp sesame oil
Pinch of black pepper
For the Fried Rice:
2 cups cooked jasmine rice (cold, preferably day-old)
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp sugar
1/2 cup green onions, chopped (reserve some for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper.
Add the beef cubes, coat well, and let it marinate for 15-20 minutes.
2. Prepare the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Set aside.
3. Cook the Beef:
Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
4. Stir-Fry the Garlic and Rice:
Add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil to the skillet.
Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (30 seconds).
Add the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
5. Combine:
Pour the prepared sauce over the rice and mix well.
Add the cooked beef back into the skillet and stir to combine.
Toss in the chopped green onions and cook for 1 more minute.
6. Serve:
Garnish with extra green onions.
Serve hot and enjoy!
