Crispy, golden, and utterly addictive—these Ham and Cheese Sticks are a quick and delicious snack or appetizer made with flaky puff pastry, savory ham, and melted cheese. Twisted to perfection and baked until crisp, they’re crowd-pleasers that disappear in minutes. Serve them warm for maximum cheesy bliss!
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
4 oz sliced ham (deli-style works great)
4 oz shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or a mix)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional but recommended for flavor)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. - Prepare the Pastry:
Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry to smooth out the folds and slightly enlarge the sheet. - Add the Flavor:
If using Dijon mustard, spread a thin layer over the entire surface of the pastry.
Evenly layer the sliced ham and sprinkle the shredded cheese on top. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. - Slice and Twist:
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
Gently twist each strip several times to form spirals and place them on the prepared baking sheet. - Egg Wash:
Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of the pastry twists. This will give them a beautiful golden finish. - Bake to Perfection:
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the sticks are puffed up, golden brown, and the cheese is bubbling. - Serve Warm:
Let cool slightly and serve warm. These are best enjoyed fresh from the oven!
