Cheesy Ground Beef & Potato Casserole


Ingredients:

1 lb (450g) ground beef
4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a mix)
1 cup (240ml) milk or cream
2 tbsp flour
2 tbsp butter
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:

Cook the Ground Beef:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned.
Add onion and garlic, and cook until softened. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Drain excess fat if needed.
Make the Cheese Sauce:
In a saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
Gradually whisk in the milk or cream. Cook until thickened.
Add 1½ cups of shredded cheese and stir until melted.
Assemble the Casserole:
In a greased baking dish, layer half the sliced potatoes.
Spread half the ground beef mixture over them.
Repeat layers, then pour the cheese sauce evenly on top.
Sprinkle remaining ½ cup cheese over everything.
Bake:
Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 50–60 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
Uncover for the last 10 minutes to brown the top.
Serve:
Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
