Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers (also called bissap / karkade)
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional but recommended)
  • 3–4 cups water
  • Honey or sugar (to taste)
  • Optional: a slice of lemon or orange

Instructions:

  1. Boil the water in a pot.
  2. Add the hibiscus flowers, cloves, and cinnamon stick.
  3. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Turn off the heat and let it steep for another 5–10 minutes.
  5. Strain the liquid into a jar or pitcher.
  6. Add honey/sugar and stir well.
  7. Serve warm or chilled (it tastes great cold!).

How to Drink:

  • Drink 1 glass per day, preferably in the morning or afternoon.
