I hope your apple pies will a blessing to whoever eats them. Ive never given out my recipe before because i didnt want people making to sell for profit. Im 61 and have made these for years and loved making them for people just to watch them enjoy them. Spoiled a few with them. 🙂 i always made them with love to bless people. I hope you do the same. Dough:
I use 4 cups of all purpose white lily flour, a heaping tsp salt. Mix. Then cut in 1 cup Crisco. Then add 1 cup of ice water. I stir together with fork then use my hand and work the dough together. You may have to add just a little bit more ice water. Just enough to pull the dough together. You dont want wet sticky dough. But just enough water to pull the dough together. Now to make the pies, pinch off a palm size ball of dough. On a flour surface , roll your dough to a pie crust thickness. I use a 6 in round pastry cutter. But for years i used a 6 in saucer and just cut around it. I put a heaping spoon of apples in the center of the round. I use my finger and put water around the edge of the dough. Then pull one side over and press down and seal the edges. Then take a fork dipped in flour and crimp the edges. I fry mine in a big electric skillet. I use Crisco shortening instead of oil. So when the cool they stay crispy and not oily. I put enough shortening in my skillet that the pies are almost floating. Once they have been turned and nice and brown, take them out and drain on a cooling rack. I sprinkle cinnamon sugar on them while they are hot. I hope you enjoy them
