Long John Silver’s Fish Batter

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup cold water (add more if needed)
1 large egg
Vegetable oil for frying

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and cold water until combined.
Pour the egg mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring to form a smooth batter. Add more water if the batter is too thick; it should have a consistency that will coat the fish.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
Dip fish fillets into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully fry the fish in the hot oil for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove the fish from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite sides!
