PHILLY CHEESESTEAK FRIES

PHILLY CHEESESTEAK FRIES

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, cut into fries
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (such as sirloin or ribeye)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded provolone or American cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms, hot sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare Fries:
Toss the cut potatoes with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake Fries:
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until crispy and golden brown, flipping halfway through.
  4. Cook Beef:
While the fries are baking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a bit of oil if needed and cook the beef slices until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  5. Sauté Vegetables:
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper (and mushrooms if using). Cook until tender and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  6. Combine:
Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables and mix well. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Assemble:
Once the fries are done, remove them from the oven and layer the beef and vegetable mixture over them. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly on top.
  8. Melt Cheese:
Return the loaded fries to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Serve:
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Optionally, drizzle with hot sauce or your favorite toppings.
