Powerful DIY Mosquito Trap (Works in Minutes!)
Ingredients:
- 1 empty plastic bottle (1.5L or 2L)
- 1 cup warm water
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon yeast (dry baking yeast)
- Black tape, cloth, or paper (optional but recommended)
Step-by-Step Method:
1. Cut the bottle
Cut the plastic bottle in half (about 1/3 from the top).
👉 Keep both parts — you’ll use them together.
2. Prepare the sweet mixture
- Pour 1 cup warm water into the bottom part
- Add 5 tablespoons sugar
- Mix well until the sugar dissolves completely
3. Add the yeast
- Add 1 tablespoon yeast on top
❗ Do NOT mix it too much — just let it sit
The yeast reacts with sugar and produces carbon dioxide (CO₂), which attracts mosquitoes (just like human breath!)
4. Assemble the trap
- Take the top part of the bottle (the neck)
- Turn it upside down (like a funnel)
- Place it into the bottom part
It should look like a funnel going inside the bottle
5. Cover the bottle (important)
Wrap the bottle with:
- Black tape OR
- Dark cloth OR
- Paper
👉 Mosquitoes prefer dark places, this makes the trap more effective
📍 6. Place the trap
Put it in areas where mosquitoes are common:
- Near windows
- Under tables
- Bedroom corners
- Balcony or kitchen
How It Works:
- The mixture releases CO₂ gas
- Mosquitoes are attracted and enter through the funnel
- They get trapped inside and can’t escape
Maintenance:
- Replace the mixture every 5–7 days
- Clean the bottle before making a new one
💡 Extra Pro Tips:
- Use 2–3 traps in different rooms for best results
- Turn off lights nearby for stronger attraction
- Add a few drops of dish soap to kill mosquitoes faster
⚠️ Important:
- Keep away from children and pets
- Do not drink the mixture
✨ Result:
In just a few hours, you’ll notice fewer mosquitoes… and within days, they almost disappear!
